Gallipoli re-enactment July 1915
As there was no actual footage of the ANZAC landing at Gallipoli, the film makers in 1915 re-enacted the drama for the newsreels using soldiers from Liverpool Camp, NSW.
Percy Smythe was one of those soldiers and he recorded the day of filming in his diary.
Within 6 weeks Percy was fighting in the trenches of Gallipoli for real.
