Vern, a youthful Captain with an MC and Bar and Percy Smythe, a Lieutenant with an MC returned to Australia with War Brides. Viv ended the war as an acting Major with an MC and Bar and after returning to Australia in 1919, took up his career with PMG. He tried farming on a Soldier Settler Block, and was recalled in 1939 to WWII as a Major. Back home Vern studied Accountancy, Percy matriculated, got a BA and Diploma of Education and set up a Coaching College.

All surviving children married and had 24 grandchildren between them.
