My Dear,

I am afraid you won’t get this as soon as the letter but it’s to show you how easily I can enquire about anyone.  Thank God your brother is at present all right but ere this reaches you – who knows what may be, we are just waiting for some thing big but its delayed.  Fondest love Ever.  Mrs.  E M. Morgan.

Sept 30th 1918

Dear Viv,

Just a card to wish you all thats good for xmas & the New Year. We went to town yesterday to welcome some returning soldiers, incidently, to get the lay of the land for when we go to meet Jack Preston, which we think will be Saturday or Sunday next. After all the excitement was over we caught the 12 o'clock boat to Manly where we spent the afternoon. The usual crowd thronged the "Corso" & beach & one could hardly imagine there was a war on. Violet Weil is Bank Clerking these days & has been sent to West Maitland. Love from Jean
